Becyy and Dan’s very, very wet wedding at the simply stunning Nymans near Haywards Heath in Sussex. The gardens at this National Trust treasure are beautiful but for their big day it just wouldn’t stop raining. The guests seems to enjoy the deluge though and actually made for a really fun time, everybody including myself was saturated but the wetter it got the more fun it became.

Nymans is such a lovely place to shoot though that I felt a bit cheated by the weather so Beccy, Dan and I agreed to come back and reshoot their couple shots on a better day. Nymans really were lovely and we had exclusive use of the gardens for their re-shoot. Actually worked out rather well as it gave us all more time to wander and get some lovely shots; time is usually very tight at the wedding itself.

Nymans, nestled near the town of Haywards Heath in West Sussex, is a captivating National Trust property celebrated for its rich history and enchanting surroundings. Originally conceived as a country retreat by the Messel family in the late 19th century, the estate faced a significant setback in 1947 when a fire ravaged much of the mansion. While the flames left a part of the mansion in ruins, some sections were painstakingly restored and are now open for exploration. Visitors can wander through the partially revived mansion, gaining insights into the estate's past and the resilience that led to its preservation.

The true allure of Nymans lies in its stunning gardens, where a diverse collection of rare and exotic plants, vibrant flowers, and lush greenery create a visual feast. The landscape, meticulously designed, offers a harmonious blend of formal and informal elements, making it a haven for horticulture enthusiasts and nature lovers alike.

Beyond the manicured gardens, the estate extends into woodlands, providing a serene space for leisurely strolls and nature walks. The juxtaposition of well-tended areas and wilder landscapes adds to the charm of Nymans, offering visitors a diverse range of experiences.

Throughout the year, Nymans plays host to a variety of events and activities, from guided walks that unravel the estate's stories to family-friendly engagements that make it an appealing destination for all ages. The address, Nymans, Handcross, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH17 6EB, beckons curious minds and those seeking respite in the embrace of nature and history.
